A Captivating Journey through Clerkenwell Design Week 2023

Clerkenwell Design Week 2023 showreel

Step into the enchanting world of Clerkenwell Design Week as we invite you to experience this year's edition through our lens. As a dynamic creative agency specialising in videography and photography, armed with our cutting-edge RED Komodo camera on a shoulder rig, we embarked on an awe-inspiring day, immersing ourselves in a realm of unrivalled design and boundless creativity.

We've been pleased to meet with renowned and emerging brands, some already our clients.

In the heart of St John's Square, we encountered a captivating showcase at the Detail Lighting showroom. Renowned for their elegant architectural lighting, they unveiled the Motolux and Casambi systems, resulting from a remarkable collaboration with the esteemed Italian Formalighting. It was a privilege to witness their innovative vision firsthand.

As we ventured further, the resplendent world of Titian Touch beckoned. Here, we discovered the revolutionary lighting control offered by their magical touch plates, which astounded us with an incredible array of designs, materials, finishes, and colours. The absolute breadth of possibilities they presented left us inspired and eager to see the impact they would have on the design landscape.

At Baux acoustic lounge, we were honoured to meet Niki Gynnerstedt, head of marketing, who graciously invited us to explore their sustainable acoustic panels crafted with care in Sweden. The sheer dedication to environmental consciousness and their seamless integration of design and functionality left us in awe, a testament to their unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainable design.

Immersed in the serene courtyard of St John Priory Church, we found solace amidst the impeccable craftsmanship of Ethimo outdoor furniture. Born from the delicate harmony of beauty, nature, culture, and tradition, their Italian-made pieces offered a well-balanced respite, capturing the essence of luxurious relaxation in the middle of the bustling design week.

But it wasn't all just contemplative indulgence. At the NowyStyl showroom, we had a blast testing their super-comfortable, innovative, and refined office furniture. The "swing with wings" exemplified their commitment to creating a harmonious and enjoyable workspace that transcends the traditional confines of a typical office environment. It was a delightful reminder that design can inspire productivity, joy, and well-being.

Stepping into the exhibition space at St John Church, we were immediately captivated by Ziba Homes' fusion of southeastern craft techniques with contemporary designs in their elegant home decor. It was a testament to the power of cultural fusion and the ability of design to bridge time and tradition, creating something truly exceptional.

Brionvega radiofonografo by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni

At the Sessions Art Club, a true gem awaited us. The timeless Brionvega radiofonografo, designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1965, still commanded attention and ignited the imagination of design enthusiasts. This iconic piece, beloved by David Bowie himself, served as a reminder of the enduring power of design to transcend time and leave an indelible mark on our collective consciousness.

A meeting with Will Chelsom, co-leader of the eponymous decorative lighting brand, proved to be a true revelation. He introduced us to their latest collection, Edition 28, which seamlessly merges tradition with innovation. Witnessing the harmonious marriage of the past and the future, we were left with a profound appreciation for how Chelsom's creations effortlessly bridge the gap between time-honoured elegance and cutting-edge design.

In the realm of innovation, Dyson never fails to astonish. Gemma Fishel, their commercial marketing manager, left us in awe as she showcased their latest marvels—the big+quiet air purifiers. Combining style with substance, Dyson once again pushed the boundaries of what is possible, proving that design can enrich our lives in unimaginable ways.

Our journey took a delightful detour to Spain as we discovered Aromas, a Spanish brand that had recently ventured into the UK hospitality market. Their mesmerising decorative lighting fixtures, crafted from a captivating fusion of ceramic, stone, leather, and metal, provided a tantalising feast for the senses. Aromas reminded us that true design brilliance knows no bounds, transcending expectations and redefining what is possible.

Finally, as time nearly slipped away, we encountered Ben Rousseau, the visionary designer behind Tempus — a collection of timepieces that reimagine our experience of time itself. From the era of sundials to mechanical and digital clocks, Tempus timepieces are far more than technological evolutions; they are vessels of transformation, offering solace to those with mental disabilities and promoting overall well-being. It was a profound reminder that design has the power to touch lives and shape the world around us.
