marble and terrazzo floors for Scandinavian design

Harrods, Studio Frantzén, photo by Marco Joe Fazio

Studio Franzén has just opened on the top floor of Harrods. The latest restaurant in the chain, run by Björn Frantzén, serves his signature Nordic food influenced by Asian and French cuisine. The restaurant décor by Joyn Studio also reflects this with an elegant re-interpretation of Scandinavian design.

We’ve filmed Studio Frantzén interiors for stoneCIRCLE, who fabricated floors, kitchen partitions and vanities for the restaurant washrooms.

In the video, you will see how the square lattice work on marquetry used for the furniture is echoed on the floors, where a geometric grid of terrazzo has been inlaid with Verde Antigua marble in some areas and Rosso Barocco marble in others. In all stoneCIRCLE cut 15000 squares out of the terrazzo, inserted 15000 marble inlays before grinding the surface to a honed finish, and sent them to the site to be installed by Jaysam Contractors.
